quivering heart
i am absolutely smitten over this manicure. i used Femmefatale cosmetics quivering hearts over Portmans cherry. 2 easy coats for beautiful glitter coverage. although i wish i had fished for more of the black glitters. quivering heart is packed with shimmering red glitters both black and red hexagons and black hearts.. but it was difficult to fish for the hearts simply because there;s so much glitter the brush literally doesn't know what to do with itself.
i was a little nervous about packing on the glitter because i've found that no matter what i try.. glitter jams never seem to completely dry for me. they'd be dry to the touch.. but still smudge or dent even after a couple hours of application. i tried running my fingers through cold water.. to sitting in front of the fan for hours waving my fingers at the poor thing.. but to no avail.. turns out.. you have to use quick dry top coat.. and not just any one at that.. apparently Seche Vite and or Sally Hansen quick dry is the way to go.. but at 16 bucks a pop... that's pretty steep. fortunately this ad boy was able to dry without the quick dry top coat so i was greedy and finished it off with the holographic top coat instead and so far so good. there are some areas of the nail that's still a little.. "soft" to the touch.. but for the most past they're good to go. so i'm very excited about it. unfortunately it's going to be discontinued come March 31st.. so if you don't have it yet... go and get it. right now!

sponge me some colour
clearly i have way too much time on my hands with absolutely nothing to do..
fo the manicure i used Essie smooth sailing, OPI suzi pedal faster, Australis sweetpea, BYS lucky ducky and topped it off with China Glaze golden enchantment... just because glitter makes everything better.

pink me a flower
nails of the day
the two jellies are femmefatale cosmetics sweet surprise from her valentines trio. for the nail art i used sinfulcolors easy going for the base. bys roller coaster and opi for the leaves and poi no spain no gain, planks a lot, barefoot in barcelona and kiss me on my tulips for the flowers topped with australis specktacular top coat.
the days seem to be getting longer and longer to pass. if i'm not cleaning the house or planning dinner.. i paint my nails or waste away with daytime television.. i can't say i'm excited to leave Perth and go back to school.. but i'm not sad about leaving either. only a little over two weeks left here...

NOTD
silver and blue gradient nails
for this manicure i used SinfulColors Out Of This World and BYS Alaskan Blue... and because glitter makes everything...
i used a coat of FemmeFatale Suspended Starlight and Australis Specktacular. a little bit of fishing with suspended starlight for the stars and moon but for the most part i had to brush off the excess glitter with the side of the bottle because it's such a glitter bomb and it would have over shadowed the gradient base.
my previous manicure lasted for longer than i had anticipated and i was surprised i didn't itch to change it after a day.. but it didn't survive kayaking and started to peel so i was sad to part with it.. i had a friend over for dinner friday night and made Alfredo fettucini with salmon :)
she saw my nails and said it was pretty boring for what she's used to seeing me have.. so i guess that's what inspired my NOTD for aussie nails monday :D

it's already the weekend...
nails for the weekend... assuming i don't get bored or it doesn't chip beforehand :P
OPI You Don't Know Jaques and No SPain No Gain
having a friend over for dinner tonight.. going to try out the melon and prosciutto hype for appetisers and salmon and spinach avocado alfredo linguine for dinner.. a little undecided about dessert for now.. but anything with ice cream is good right?
hope everyone has an awesome and safe weekend!

organised mess
nails of the day...
for this manicure i used (from top to bottom) Butter London The Black Knight and West End Wonderland. Portmans Cherry and BYS Black Satin and Pot Of Gold for the large glitter placement.
kind of makes me think of an organised mess.. which pretty much sums up how i feel right now. i've spent the entire summer doing pretty much lazing around wasting time with the boy... but it's about to end soon and back to school in a couple of weeks.. which means back to sydney.. and the long distance battle begins all over again...

leopard print hearts
in light of all the lovey dovey days i thought i'd try a heart leopard print nail art.
for this manicure i used OPI Planks A Lot and Stranger Tides for the gradient. BYS Matte Grey and Black Satin for the leopard print hearts and topped it off with China Glaze Golden Enchantment because everything is better with glitter :P

red my valentine
my official valentines day manicure
i'm pretty obsessed with this rose nail art right now... and it didn't feel "lovey" without some more red in it :)
for this manicure i used Portmans Cherry. SinfulColors Snow Me White. BYS Roller Coaster and a splash of China Glaze Golden Enchanement.
Happy Valentines Day :)

vintage roses
finally put my nailart brushes to use and tried me some vintage rose nail art :D
please excuse the nubby thumb. for whatever reason it's almost impossible for my thumb nail to grow past my fingertips. it always tears on the side and close to the nailbed so it's so hard to salvage...
for this manicure i used Sweetpea from Australis for the base
OPI Barefootinbarcelona. Portmans Cherry. BYS RollerCoaster. and ChinaGlaze Golden Enchantment for the roses
(in the order of what i used for this manicure)

some foodporn of last nights dinner..
my homemade beef burger with bacon. avocado. beetroot. mixed salad greens. ketchup and hot sauce.. oh with a side of apple and blackcurrent rekorderlig :)

glitter. glorious glorious glitter
Holey.. glitterbomb.. that is all.
let me introduce you to the glorious Hydraxia by FemmeFatale Cosmetics. this is two easy coats over SinfulColors Out Of This World.
i mean.. what more can i say.. it truly speaks for itself. i just hope my picture serves it justice.
now i'm just thinking about the dreadful process of removing it (it's always when i use the glue base that i wish i hadn't.. and when i don't that i did ==")

long anniversary weekend ♥
whooo* so in light of my one year anniversary of coming to Perth.. the boy took a couple days off of work to hang out with me.
it started on Friday:
we went to the city to get our hair done and to buy some groceries for our hot pot night to celebrate Chinese New Year come sunday night..
something that i thought would only take an hour at max 2 plus grocery shopping ended up taking almost 3 hours in just the hair salon alone. he had his asian mop cut off. and i dubbed to get my hair dyed.. i've always had an obsession for red heads. i just think they're one of the most beautiful mystical creatures of the world. i know lots of people have their racist nicknames but hey... i'd love me a ranga any day and she can do whatever she pleases with me (especially the punk rock ones with tattoos *swoons*) anyways.. with all the time spent there i had anticipated on walking out of there looking like a ginger.. but.. it turns out that because i had black hair dye on my tips previously.. they couldn't make it as red as i had hoped without bleaching my hair.. so now i have like a reverse ombre red/burgundy/violet thing going on on my hair.. but i think i like it.. the red head jokes are already coming from the boy hahaha. so finally we were done and we went on the mission trip to find an asian grocery that had the ingredients i wanted for our hot pot night. on the way we stopped by a vietnamese restaurant for a super late lunch. i had the beef noodle soup.. which was absolutely disgusting. never in my life had i tasted such terrible noodles let alone soup.. and i thought asian food in Marylands was bad.. after about 5 hours spent in the city we make it home.. and i start making dinner...
CHILI CON CARNE BURRITOS AND FAJITA BURRITOS!
i swear.. if there are any readers from the States reading this.. it tasted just like Chipotle! everything was homemade.. down to the guacamole.. corn salsa.. tomato salsa and rice... with the exception of the tortillas.. i'm not hardcore enough for tortillas yet hahaha..
it was so yummy and i was so proud of myself i kept running my mouth throughout the night of how proud i was of myself for making everything.
Saturday:
when i was leaving the hairdressers the lady told me that i had to use hair treatment on my hair before i showered because of all the hair dye my hair endured.. and no joke it felt like straw. i was so paranoid about getting split ends or breaking of my hair.. so i read online somewhere that banana, avocado and olive oil was really great for your hair.. well for one it's organic and two incredibly inexpensive. so i thought i'd give it a go.. i mashed up one banana and one avocado and mixed it with 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.. then pretty much just dabbed it onto my head and tried to work it into my hair. i left it on for about 30 minutes and proceeded to take a shower.. and let me tell you.. it was an absolute nightmare trying to wash the banana out of my hair. it took me about an hour just trying to gently run my fingers through my hair and try to wash out the pieces of banana.. an hour later and with pruney fingers... i still managed to find banana in my hair.. and the boy spent the rest of the night literally just picking out the tiny veins of banana out of my hair.. mind you this was incredibly embarrassing when we were having dinner later on in the night.. but he didn't seem to mind it so i kept my mouth shut.. that and they were pieces that i couldn't see to take out myself.. so i let him go to town with it. hahaha
at around 5pm we left for the hotel room he had booked months earlier.. (he had found a great deal through scoopon) Rendezvous Observation City Hotel.. right off of Scarborough Beach..
(this picture was taken with my phone from our room)
although some parts of the hotel was under reconstruction (trust us to come when they're half closed) everything else was beautiful.. the room was so fancy and the bathroom even had a jacuzzi!!!
but.. the whole point of this "excursion" was to spend time together and all that other mooshy bullshit so we went for a walk to look for some place to eat and it wasn't too long that we ended up in Zanders At Scarborough Beach. (as a matter of fact it was just across the road from our hotel)
braised pork belly for him
and marinara linguine for me :)
after dinner we decided to join the crowds at the beach to see what all the commotion was about and there were three girls who were performing ariel acrobatics and were pretty much hanging off of a swing and just doing all sorts of crazy stuff and the whole time.. all i could think was of what incredible acrobatic sex they could potentially have being so flexible and strong.. they were all incredible but by the time we got there it was on their ending acts so it wasn't long lived.. we watched the sun go down and then headed back to the room for some jacuzzi and free sparkling wine ^_^
Sunday:
pretty chill. we checked out around 10 and headed to his friends house to celebrate his friends birthday.. whom is also getting married in Singapore in October. to be honest.. the "party" if you would even call it that was so dry.. i mean considering it was 5 guys and myself.. we had pizza and the boy and i brought an ice cream cake.. we sat around talking bullshit and making fun of the soon to be groom and watched the Hangover. (how fitting) late afternoon we went home to prep for our hot pot night and watched MasterChef The Professionals with his brother.
Monday:
whole day of nothingness... hahahaha literally.. it was about 42 degrees out so we literally just sat around the entire day watching tv and wasting away... i made tom yum soup with all the left overs from our hot pot night and chewy chocolate chip cookies
Happy Chinese New Year everyone! May the year of the Snake bring you lots of fortune and good luck!

valentines day nails minus the hearts and flowers
my spin off of valentines day nails :)
the fifth polish from my FemmeFatale Cosmetics polish. another one from the Valentines trio. Quivering Heart ♥
i have so much love and adoration for this polish. in the beginning i was a little hesitant on purchasing it. but the black hearts sold me.
what i used for this manicure..
SinfulColors Out Of This World
sponged with OPI Bogota Blackberry with one dabbed coat of the Quivering Heart and topped off with Australis Speck-tacular
once again i wish i could capture the holographic flakes of glitter.. but this will have to do for now till i can figure out how to use the boys DSLR camera
hopefully the manicure lasts till this weekend for our celebration of the overrated "love" day hahaha. but i hope all you ladies who are reading this have a lovely day filled with kisses and hugs

a sweet surprise
todays manicure.. 2 coats of FemmeFatale Cosmetics Sweet Surprise over SinfulColors Easy Going. this is without top coat and horrid lighting :P
kind of reminds me of a strawberry milkshake with marshmallows and sprinkles.
and this is with a coat of Speck-tacular from Australis. i wish there was a way that i could photograph the holographic flakes of glitter (though getting a proper camera would be one haha) because this picture serves the polish absolutely no justice at all..

you jelly bro?
number 3 in my FemmeFatale nailmail.
Winter Hyancinth. what more can i say? it is a beautiful polish that any and every nail enthusiast needs in their collection. this was 2 coats. didn't need dabbing or fishing. and no undies.
i decided to do this manicure the old fashioned way with a regular base coat rather than the glue base again.. they just didn't last long and i'm obsessed with this polish so i obviously want it to last much longer than a couple of hours till i decide to shower or do housework.
hope everyone had an awaesome and safe weekend!

you were the sun and moon to me ♥
my nails for the Above & Beyond concert. Femme Fatale Cosmetics Suspended Starlight.
i think it's quite fitting if i do say so myself. seeing as Sun and Moon was my favorite song.
this was 3 dabbed coats with no undies.. but this was also the first time trying the glue base for the sake of making the removing process much easier. for my last mani i had used the foil method and it did murder to my cuticles... i was absolutely freaking out because they were so dry and so rough afterwards.. for the next 24 hours i was drowning them in the Burt's Bees miracle salve. thank goodness they're back to how they were before.. but i'm going to avoid having to use the foil method from now on if i can help it.
but to my dismay.. 2 hours before the concert...
well.. least now i know the glue base works really well when it comes to removing glitter polish easily.. but with that being said.. the manicure obviously doesn't last that long.. so.. round two...
this time using Butter London - The Black Knight for le undies and 2 coats of FemmeFatale - Suspended Starlight :)
Above & Beyond at Metro City Perth 2013
Above & Beyond Sun and Moon Perth 2013
After 6 hours of second hand Vicks sniffing. 8 bruises. Face scratched. Toes bruised. Aching legs. And being crushed by meat heads..It was a night of epic proportions. words cannot express how great they were live. they kept the crowd riled and were just phenomenon. Although... I've never seen so many straight guys touch and hug each other so much in a span of a couple of hours... it was weird.
